Final Communique - the 29th annual meeting of the Food Crisis Prevention Network ( RPCA )

From 25 to 27 November 2013, the 29th annual meeting of the Food Crisis Prevention Network (RPCA) was attended by nearly 200 participants including representatives of West African Governments, inter-governmental organisations, civil society and private sector organisations, technical and financial partners, regional banks, etc.

Analysing the agricultural, food and nutritional situation, the Network confirms a generally good 2013 – 2014 agro-pastoral season, but with localised food and nutritional insecurity
risks. The Sahel and West Africa cereal production is estimated at 57 million tonnes, up by 16% compared to the average of the past fiveyears –rice production particularly increased significantly by 31%.
