Summary of conclusions RPCA meeting

The RPCA restricted meeting brought together 150 representatives from Sahelian and West African countries, intergovernmental organisations, agro-pastoral professional organisations, civil society organisations, the private sector and technical and financial partners. It was organised by the CILSS Executive Secretariat and the Sahel and West Africa Club Secretariat of (SWAC/ OECD), under the auspices of the ECOWAS and UEMOA Commissions.

The objective was to take stock of the final results of the 2017-18 agro-pastoral campaign, examine the food and nutrition situation, and make recommendations on concrete measures for crisis prevention and management. Progress achieved and the lessons learned from the Global Alliance for Resilience (AGIR) were examined, five years after the adoption of its roadmap. The provisional results of the second external evaluation of the Charter for the Prevention and Management of Food Crises (PREGEC) were assessed as well as progress made on other RPCA work.
