The European Commission and the African Union Commission reaffirm their cooperation in the agricultural sector at the eighth inter-organizational meeting April 7, 2016 in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia)

Through the final communiqué of the inter organizational meeting, the two institutions have reaffirmed their support for the ambition to triple intra-African trade in agriculture by 2025 and increase the added value of exports to the EU according to the framework of CAADP and the Declaration of Malabo.
Thus, they decided to focus their support on the CAADP results framework to achieve the objectives of Malabo in the areas of productivity, intra-African trade and development of the value chain, climate change, resilience and sustainable agriculture, and the promotion of responsible private sector investment in African agriculture.

They also appreciated positively the joint report of the contact group on agriculture, food security and food safety.

It was at the closing ceremony e of the 8th meeting of the colleges, the largest political meeting of the year between the EU and Africa held in April 7, 2016 ( Ethiopia). The meeting is organized by the African Union Commission, and co-chaired by Dr. Nkosazana Clarice Dlamini-Zuma, the president, and Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the European Commission.
